Makalu Trek

The trekking to Makalu is long if we start from Hille as it supposes a minimum of 26 days trek. For this reason, we have decided to use the small airport of Tumlingtar (973m). Flying there reduces the trekking to 18 days until the Base Camp of the fifth highest mountain in the world and back. Going north following the Arun river, we will pass beautiful villages as Sedua and Num, and once crossed the Barum pass (4,110m), we will get into the upper valley of Barum Khola from where we will have nice view of Makalu (7,311m) and Chamlang (7,317m). Later on, we will arrive to Base Camp. The journey back will follow the same route but stopping in different villages.

Day 04: Biratnagar/Tumlingtar/Khandbari. Tented Camp.

Day 05: Khandbari/Bhotebash. Tented Camp.

Day 06: Bhotebash/Mure. Tented Camp.

Day 07: Mure/Sedua. Tented Camp.

Day 08: Sedua/Tashigaon. Tented Camp.

Day 09: Tashigaon/Kauma. Tented Camp.

Day 10: Kauma/Barun La/Mumbuk. Tented Camp.

Day 11: Mumbuk/Nehe Kharka. Tented Camp.

Day 12: Nehe Kharka/Shershon. Tented Camp.

Day 13: Shershon/Makalu B.C. Tented Camp.

Day 14: In Makalu Base Camp. Tented Camp.

Day 15: Makalu B.C./Ramara. Tented Camp.

Day 16: Ramara/Mumbuk. Tented Camp.

Day 17: Mumbuk./Unshisa. Tented Camp.

Day 18: Unshisa/Rumruma. Tented Camp.

Day 19: Rumruma/Fururu. Tented Camp.

Day 20: Fururu/Manebhanjyang. Tented Camp.

Day 21: Manebhanjyang/Khandbari. Tented Camp.

Day 22: Khandbari/Tumlingtar. Tented Camp.

Day 23: Tumlingtar/Biratnagar/Kathmandu.
