The North Face Everest Base Tour

Your fascinating journey to Rongbuk Monastery (the highest monastery in the world) and the North Base Camp of Mt. Everest will begin with a drive from Kathmandu to Nyalam and the Rongbuk river.

Day 01: Kathmandu / Nyalam (3,650m) -153kms.

Starting early in the morning you will drive the 153 kms from Kathmandu to Nyalam, a bustling trading point on the Tibet side of the border. Overnight in guest hosue.

Day 02: In Nyalam.

Rest day in Nyalam for acclimatization. If possible do excursion around. Overnight in guest house.

Day 03: Nyalam / Tingri (4,350m) - 211kms.

Drive along the Bhotekoshi river through the Lalungla pass (5,050m), excellent views of mountains along the way. Overnight in guest house.

Day 04: Tingri / Rongbuk (4,800m) - 115kms.

Drive through the rugged road towards Rongbuk monastery approx. 3: 30 hours. At afternoon visit Rongbuk monastery. Overnight in guest house.

Day 05: Rongbuk / Everest Base Camp / Lhatze (4,050m) - 245kms.

Early morning, either take horse cart or trek to North face Everest Base Camp and return to Rongbuk monastery. Drive from Ropngbuk to Lhatze a distance of 245kms. During this drive you will cross JiaTsuola pass (5,220m). Overnight in guest house.

Day 06: Lhatze / Xigatse (3,950m) - 150kms.

Drive through highway to Xigatse which is the second most important city in Tibet and capital of the province of Tsang. Xigatse city, the house of the famous Tashilompo monastery, the seat of the Panchen Lama until his death in 1989. Overnight in hotel.

Day 07: Xigatse / Gyantse (3,900m) - 90kms.

After a morning visit to the Tashilompo monastery, a short two hours drive to Gyantse, a small town that once served as the capital of small kingdom, visit The Palkhor monastery and KumbumStupa. Overnight in hotel.

Day 08: Gyantse / Lhasa (3,650m) - 261kms.

A scenic drive through the Karola pass (5,010m) and Kambala pass (4,794m) with very good view of the Yamdroktso lake. Then you cross the Brahmaputra river to arrive in Lhasa. Overnight in hotel.

Day 09/10: In Lhasa. (Sightseeing tour).

Sightseeing and excursion of the Potala palace, Jokhang temple, surroundings of Barkhor market, Drepung monastery and Sera monastery. Overnight in hotel.

Day 11: Lhasa / Gonggar Airport / Kathmandu.

Drive one hour to Gonggar Airport. Our representative will assist you. Fly back to Kathmandu
