This trip allows you to get more "hands on" experience of Tibet. It is designed to show you more of this fascinating land and its people. Your visits to Tsetang, Gyantse, Xigatse and Lhasa overland will take you through scenery, you must travel to the roof of the world to see, observing one of the most colorful and fascinating religions and cultures on earth.
Day 01: Kathmandu / Gonggar Airport / Tsedang (3400m).
Fly to Gonggar airport. After immigration formalities, you will be met here by our guide and the proceed to Tsedang. Overnight in hotel.
Day 02: In Tsedang. (Sightseeing tour).
Your encounter with Tibet will begin with a visit to the fort of Yumbulakhang which was built by the first Tibetan king Nyatri Tsenpo in the 2nd century BC. Local folk lore has it that the king was descended from heaven. Next you will visit Chedruk temple to round off our visit Tsedang. Overnight in hotel.
Day 03: Tsedang / Gyantse (3950m).
You will drive to Gyantse via Yamdroktso which translates to "Turquoise Lake". Overnight in hotel.
Day 04: Gyantse / Xigatse (3900m).
Early morning visit The Palkhor monastery and KumbumStupa. After sightseeing tour, proceed for Xigatse, visit The Tashilompo monastery which is the official seat of the Panchen Lama, second importance to only the Dalai Lama. Overnight in hotel.
Day 05: Xigatse / Lhasa (3650m).
A scenic drive via local villages to Lhasa. Overnight in hotel.
Day 06/07: In Lhasa. (Sightseeing tour).
Sightseeing tour around Lhasa, visit The Jokhang temple, Barkhor Market, Sera monastery, Drepung monastery and Potala palace. Overnight in hotel.
Day 08: Lhasa / Gonggar Airport / Kathmandu.
Drive to Gonggar airport approx. 1 hour and fly back to Kathmandu.
